Hi everyone!
In this blog I want to talk about my hometown, Gaziantep. I was born and raised in Istanbul, but in summer holidays we always went to Gaziantep with my family. In this summer trips, I sometimes had chance to visit the city sides. I have never been in Zeugma Museum, but I visited Gaziantep Castle, zoo and Coppersmiths Bazaar.
First of all, I need to tell you that Antep is not a summer city because it is too hot and you may not enjoy your summer because of the weather. Our relatives do not live in the city center, so when I go there I do not have much opportunity to walk around city center.

Opened in Gaziantep on September 9, 2011, the Zeugma museum is the second largest mosaic museum in the world. It is a world-leading museum both in terms of architecture and technology. Parts of two thousand-year-old mosaics that have been reduced by the looting of treasure hunters over the years are completed as images with a laser system. In addition, the world-famous "Gypsy Girl" mosaic is exhibited here. It was found as part of the 300 square meter base of a villa during the rescue of Belkis ruins in 1998-1999, with the removal of the column on it. Akratos, the Goddess of the season and the mosaic of the Gypsy Girl, which was saved along with the works called Satyr, became a symbol of Gaziantep along with the ancient city. Although the gender of the person who is the subject of the Gypsy Girl mosaic is a matter of debate, there are different opinions that the figure is Gaia or Alexander the Great, The Goddess of the Earth and the mother of the gods.

Whenever we visit our relatives who live in city center, we visit some places such as zoo. Antep's zoo was always our first station. This zoo is the largest zoo in Turkey. And it can take us hours to walk around here, but it'll make us have a good time. I've always been most interested in elephants in this zoo, where there are almost all kinds of animals.

In general, the Coppersmiths Bazaar called, however, many of the complex production of handicraft artisans,  Gaziantep Coppersmiths Bazaar shops wooden, stone tiled streets offers us with excerpts from another era. Although the exact date of construction of the shops located in the coppersmiths Bazaar is not known, it is believed that they were built in the 19th century. The bazaar, consisting of single-storey shops, is located within the inns district. Shops opened to the street with arched entrances are made of stone. The art of copper, which gives its name to the bazaar, continues its existence intensively today.

Gaziantep Castle is a castle located on a hill in the center of Gaziantep. It is not known when it was built, but it is known that it was used for observation purposes during the Roman period. The castle has been restored many times throughout history and received its final form with a restoration in the early 2000s.
